It's that time again over at
Jenn's blog. You should try it yourself -- you know you want to! This week's theme is
separation -- which could go just a whole lot of ways, couldn't it?
I grew up Army; moving and saying good-bye
seemed normal to me.
The Golden Compass gave "separation" a whole
new meaning: tragic.
Cooking is so not
My thing. Separating eggs --
Harder than it looks!
Wow, the first one is a sad statement, isn't it? Great, yet sad at the same time :( A very thoughtful haiku day I think. We need it though, every once in a while!
ReplyDeleteNice job!
I love the egg one, proves that there are so many ways to interpret a topic - well thought of!
ReplyDeleteIt must have been hard to move from place to place especially when you are so young and trying to establish bonds with friends.
I hear you on the egg one. I cant do it either. I thought the GC was great, just bummed out that the other books wont become movies
ReplyDeleteOh, The Golden Compass one made me so sad - separation from one's daemon - ahhh!!!
ReplyDeleteMuch as he drives me
crazy, I hate being gone
from him for too long.
Maureen, my cyber
ReplyDeletefriend -- though separated by
distance, you feel close.
Hey, isn't that my butter dish???? xxoox, Coleen
ReplyDeleteA friend who covets
ReplyDeleteA butter dish pays homage --
But the dish is mine.
Great haikus! The egg one was my favorite...I was just talking to a friend yesterday about how I am 26 and still not allowed to separate the eggs for a special cake my grandma makes :/
ReplyDeleteI love all 3 of your Haikus!
ReplyDeleteI really relate to the Army one though, having lived the Army life for the past 6 years.
I think they make a funny tool to make separating eggs easier. :)
ReplyDeleteMilitary families are so resilient, Jessica -- your soldier couldn't do what he does without you!
ReplyDeleteI am intrigued that so many find the "Army" haiku sad or bittersweet. It really did seem normal to me as I was growing up -- and I have so many "best friends!" It was not a negative experience for me!
Oooh! Egg separator thingie! My mom had one of those when I was growing up -- but I feel like I remember needing three hands to use it . . .?
